Simulation Australia Transport SIG
Transport Special Interest Group
At the September 2008 Executive Meeting, it was decided to gauge interest in forming a Transport SIG.
Objective
To facilitate a coordinated approach to Transport simulation related activities in order to maximise opportunities for Australian industry and benefits to users.
Activities
- Provide a regular forum for engagement of the simulation industry and Transport agencies, to facilitate dialogue, awareness and progression of key issues related to the use of simulation within the Transport environment
- Maintain a shared awareness of the state of key issues related to the use of simulation within the Transport environment
- Develop and implement a coordinated Action Plan to help address key issues that inhibit increased and effective utilisation of simulation within the Transport environment
- Lobby governments and potential Transport agencies or end users as to the opportunities and benefits of simulation
- Facilitate industry awareness of the Transport market including user needs and key issues
- Facilitate promotion and demonstrations of industry capabilities
- Provide the facility for a user / industry communications channel prior to the development of specific opportunities
- Facilitating teaming of suppliers.
Scope
The aspects of Transport covered by this SIG are activities relating to the following sub-sectors, for which modelling and simulation may be beneficial:
- Civil Aviation
- Road
- Rail
- Maritime
- Logistics / Distribution
