Chief Executive Officer
Alisha Fisher joined Simulation Australia as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer on 4th April 2011.
Prior to this, Alisha was the Chief Executive Officer (SA/NT) of the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce. Over almost ten years there, she re-branded and grew the organisation, and strengthened its relationships with Government, Academia and Corporate.
She also has provided time and advice to boards such as:

Gerry Bluett is Senior Consultant Defence, Mining and Industrial Business unit at Aurecon.
Gerry Bluett has a strong background as a systems and business analyst at both the technical and managerial levels of process re-engineering as well as a strong IT background at both the technical and managerial levels with specific experience/expertise in managing business development activities from concept to post delivery support. Gerry is also an experienced Project Manager highly focussed on deliverables, resource management, change management and component re-use, with expertise in logistics, supply chain management, simulation and training methodologies.
Nigel Chong - Manager of Simulation Operations & Development, School of Nursing & Midwifery, University of Tasmania
Nigel Chong has a wealth of clinical experience in nursing and pre hospital care (paramedic). Nigel's clinical areas of specialty include and not restricted to peri operative, isolated / rural remote practice, accident & emergency and emergency medical retrieval.
Nigel has over 20 years experience in clinical and adult education which complements his position as Manager of Simulation Operations & Development with the University of Tasmania (UTas) further developing simulation for the School of Nursing & Midwifery and Faculty of Health Science. Nigel has a solid reputation at national and international levels for his innovative approach to tertiary and clinical simulation based education. He has successfully developed the immersive based simulation program for the undergraduate program for UTas School of Nursing & Midwifery and associated external stake holders. Over the last 2 years Nigel has developed in Tasmania a successful mobile and in-situ simulation curriculum focusing on the deteriorating patient with the private and specialized areas of the public health system. Nigel holds positions on various school and faculty management committees advising on simulation development within the university.
Nigel has developed strong links nationally and internationally with simulation technology manufacturers, advising on product development and research. Nigel is called upon regularly to advise on the development of the infrastructure and curriculum for simulation based programs by local and international, tertiary and health care institutions. Nigel's current honours thesis is looking at the influence in-situ simulation has on human factors in relation to clinical team performance in the clinical environment. Nigel's philosophy towards simulation delivery is that there is no such thing as boundaries, only endless opportunities.
Daniel Munro - QinetiQ Consulting
He has recently been appointed to QinetiQ Consulting.
Prior to this, he was the Executive General Manager PAR Technology Australia (PTA). PTA delivers innovative communications and information technology solutions through advanced technology and professional services.
Prior to joining PTA, Daniel was an Associate at Booz and Company (previously Booz Allen Hamilton) where he managed a team dedicated to the provision of decision support to business through the use of modelling, simulation, wargaming and analysis.
He is the Chair of Simulation Australia's Defence Special Interest Group and has recently been elected by Industry representatives to co-chair the Defence Synthetic Environment Working Group with the Director General of the Australian Defence Simulation Office.
Daniel completed a two year role as the Operations Manager, Rapid Prototyping Development and Evaluation program, a joint venture between the Australia's defence and industry sectors. Prior to joining Booz and Company in 2005, he completed fourteen years service in the Australian Regular Army as a Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME) officer. During this time Daniel served in field units, personnel management, the Defence Materiel Organisation and the Land Warfare Development Centre with operational deployment and detachment to foreign nation exchange programs.
Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of New South Wales (Australian Defence Force Academy), a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University and a Master of Science (Modelling and Simulation) from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom. He is certified as Registered Project Manager by the Australian Institute of Project Managers and has qualifications in Defence procurement and personnel management. Daniel is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Daniel is married to Kristyn and as two daughters, Tayah and Amelie. His family enjoys bike riding, camping and renovating their house in Canberra.
Saeid Nahavandi - Alfred Deakin Professor and the Director for the Centre for Intelligent Systems Research at Deakin University
Professor Nahavandi received his PhD from Durham University in the UK. He is a Fellow member of IET, IEAust, Senior Member of IEEE and Member of Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD). He has published over 350 refereed papers and been awarded several competitive research grants in the past five years. He received the Research collaboration / initiatives award from Japan (2000) and Prince & Princess of Wales Science Award in 1994. He won the title of Young Engineer of the Year Award in 1996 and holds two patents. In 2002 Professor Nahavandi served as a consultant to Jet Propulsion Lab (NASA) during his visit to JPL Labs.
Saeid is the founder for the Centre for Intelligent Systems Research with 55 full time researchers at Deakin University. In modelling and simulation of complex systems he received awards from several organisations to focus on simulation based optimization of manufacturing processes, airport operations, logistics and distribution centres. He has carried out industry-based research with major international companies such as DoD, DSTO, DOTARS, GM, Ford, Nissan, Bosch, Futuris, Boeing, Vestas just to name a few. For his contribution in haptics and robotics he won two major research grants from the Australian Department of Defence on haptically enabled counter explosive robotic systems. For his contribution in security modelling and simulation, won a major research grant with The Department of Transport and Regional Services (DOTARS), Australian government, to evaluate the impact of installing Liquids, Aerosols and Gels ('LAGs') technology into the aviation security passenger screening environment.
Saeid has been the chairman of six International conferences and the General Chair for World Manufacturing Congress series and the International Congress on Autonomous Intelligent Systems. He also holds the position of Editor for the International Journal Intelligent Automation and Soft Computing (South Pacific region), International Journal of Computational Intelligence, International Journal of Intelligent Mechatronics and Robotics (IJIMR) and Associate Editor - IEEE Systems Journal.

Marcus Watson - Senior Director Queensland Health Skills Development Centre
Marcus is the Chair of the Australian Society for Simulation in Healthcare - a Chapter of Simulation Australia.
A/Prof Marcus Watson has conducted research on cognitive engineering, decision making, information communications technologies and simulations in healthcare since 1998.
He is the Executive Director of the Queensland Health Clinical Skills Development Service which includes Australia's largest simulations centre.
A/Prof Watson has 12 years experience in healthcare simulations that builds upon his work in defence simulations. He leads Australia's largest healthcare educational and research simulation program distributed across Queensland. He is an A/Prof in Medical Education at the School of Medicine and an Honorary A/Prof in the School of Psychology at The University of Queensland. His work in healthcare simulations has led the development of systematic approaches to the integration of simulations to address individuals', teams' and systems' concerns.
A/Prof Watson's collaborative research covers three key areas:
- The use of simulations for the design and evaluation of technology to support clinical decision-making including the recent work on the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care Evidence-based adult general observation chart
- The development of tools for evaluating the quality of communications in healthcare for educational, clinical, and forensic purposes
- The development of an evidence- based state and national training programs.
He also supervises research on technology and learning collaborations in healthcare. He is a Chief Investigator on ARC and NHMRC grants as well as a Principal Investigator on Department of Health and Aging projects. His work has been recognised by national awards for innovation patents and the Jerome Ely Award for the Best Paper in Human Factors for 2004.

Peter Hill is the Managing Director and Principal Consultant for Simcon Services Pty Ltd, which he established in 1999.
Simcon Services provides simulation and project management consultancy services to simulation users and suppliers, and Simulation Australia.
Customers have included Defence, RailCorp of NSW, and a number of simulation companies. Prior to forming Simcon Services, Peter held various design, project management, general management and marketing roles at Wormald Technology (now Thales).
Peter’s qualifications include: BE (Electrical), BSc (Computer Science) and MBA.
