F1 Racetrack

F1 Racetrack School students will be invited to SimTecT to race their model F1 racing cars on a 15m Racetrack. The competition is the highlight of a program run by the Re-Engineering Australia Forum, which aims to encourage young people to consider a career in the engineering industry.

The display will also include the 3D software used to design the car, wind-tunnel software to test it, and the computer-controlled milling machine to make it.

Best Paper Awards - 2005

To encourage student participation, the SIAA Executive has agreed to make available a number of Best Student Paper awards. The authors of the Best Student Paper will attend SimTecT 2006 in Melbourne, or undertake other educational activites, to a value of A$2,000 each, courtesy of the SIAA.

Best Paper Awards - 2004

Congratulations to:

Best Paper 2004 winner Anthony Nixon for "A Flexible Software Architecture For Visualising Simulation Data" and

Best Student Paper 2004 winner Tim Pokorny for "fedWS: Web Services Access To Active HLA Simulations".

Anthony has received up to $5,000 re-imbursement for travel expenses in going to I/ITSEC 2004 and Tim will receive up to $2,000 re-imbursement for travel expenses in going to SimTecT 2005.

SimTecT Promoted at I/ITSEC 2004

The organisers of the Interservice / Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference, the National Training Systems Association, kindly agreed to allow the SIAA to promote SimTecT 2005, and the capabilities of its Members, at I/ITSEC 2004 in Orlando, Florida in early December 2004.

Quite a number of the 15,000 delegates expressed a desire to visit Australia. It was agreed that the booth, which was manned by SIAA volunteers, was very successful.
