Simulation for Training - Today, Tomorrow

Background and invitation to attend

SimTecT 2007, the Australasian region's premier simulation conference and trade exhibition, will offer a one-day symposium for the Mining and Construction Industries on Monday 4 June at the Brisbane Convention Centre.

Hosted by Queensland's Mining Industry Skills Centre, and Construction Training Centre, the Symposium is a major strategy for introducing simulation to a range of challenges facing the industries including:

  • Safety enhancement
  • Skills shortfall
  • Skills development
  • Drive for efficiency
  • Integrating simulators into an organisation

Aims

The Symposium will:

  • Demonstrate the benefits of using simulators for training in other industries, and the mining / construction industry
  • Assist participants to see how these benefits applying to their organisations
  • Describe the pitfalls and lessons learnt
  • Facilitate the establishment of a stakeholder group to further this industry development

Who should attend

Training and General Managers, Curriculum developers, training providers, engineers.

Keynote Speakers

A range of keynote speakers from the mining / construction, aviation, defence, health and railway industries have been invited.

Program

Simulation has a strong link to operator training; almost everyone has heard of, seen or used a simulator to learn how to drive a haul truck.

But what are the other opportunities for this modern age technology? This session aims to explore the vast array of possible uses for simulators within the industry training arena. Learn from the experiences of others, leading in the field of simulation. Take a glimpse at what’s in the future, whilst letting your imagination explore where this technology may allow you to grow.

The 0830 - 1700 program includes:

  • Plenary sessions
  • Short interactive workshop groups
  • Attendance at the SimTecT Welcome Reception

Delegates are also able to attend further days of the SimTecT Conference (4-7 June), which includes a number of workshops designed for the mining / construction industry on Tuesday 5 June.
